Russia ready to provide uninterrupted oil supply to India: Putin

  Russian President Vladimir Putin is on a visit to India. During this, he was given a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday and a guard of honour from all the three armies. He held the 23rd India-Russia summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which the two countries signed several important agreements and discussed several international issues.

During the talks, Prime Minister Modi raised the issue of the Ukraine conflict and stressed that the world should return to peace. He made it clear that "India is not neutral, India is in favor of peace."

The Prime Minister said that their bilateral relations should grow further and touch new heights. President Putin thanked India for its attention to peace efforts and said that they are working for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

During the summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the two countries emphasized on strengthening relations in several important areas. President Putin said that Russia, India and other like-minded nations are working for a just and multipolar world.
His statement came in the wake of the US-imposed tariffs and other challenges. Putin also said that Russia is working on creating new international logistics routes with India. Prime Minister Modi stressed that the friendship between India and Russia has been steadfast like a pole star for the past eight decades and their relations, based on mutual respect and deep trust, have always stood the test of time. The two leaders also agreed on an economic cooperation programme to expand trade by 2030.

Terming energy security as a strong pillar of the India-Russia partnership, Prime Minister Modi said that the decades-old cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy has been important for our shared priorities. He said that this win-win cooperation will continue. Modi also stressed on enhancing cooperation in the field of critical minerals, as it will provide solid support for partnership in clean energy, high-tech manufacturing and new-age industries.

Meanwhile, President Putin said that Russia is ready to provide uninterrupted fuel supplies to India and they are considering expanding cooperation in the energy sector. Putin also talked about the possibility of cooperation in the construction of small modular nuclear reactors and floating nuclear power plants. Apart from this, Indian firms have signed an agreement with Russia's Uralchem ​​to set up a urea plant in Russia.

Raising the issue of terrorism, Prime Minister Modi said that be it the Pahalgam terrorist attack or the cowardly attack on Moscow's Crocus City Hall, the root of all such incidents is the same. Apart from this, both the countries agreed to gradually move towards the use of national currencies for bilateral payment settlements.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the port and shipping sector was also signed on the occasion. In this regard, Prime Minister Modi said that both the countries will now cooperate on training of Indian ships in polar waters, which will not only strengthen cooperation in the Arctic region, but will also create new employment opportunities for the youth of India.
