Air India found no fault in the locking system of the fuel switch, DGCA had ordered the airlines to investigate within seven days

Air India on Wednesday completed the inspection of the fuel control switch locking system in its Boeing 787 aircraft and found no fault. Aviation regulator DGCA had on Monday asked airlines to inspect the fuel switch locking system in their Boeing 787 and 737 aircraft within seven days. The order came a few days after the preliminary investigation report of the Air India Boeing 787 crash came out.

Citing a message sent to Air India pilots, an Air India official said that over the weekend, our engineering team began a precautionary inspection of the fuel control switch (FCS) locking system in all our Boeing 787 aircraft. The inspection has been completed and no fault was found. The official also said that as per Boeing's maintenance programme, the throttle control module has been replaced in all Boeing 787-8 aircraft. FCS is a part of this module. Fuel control switches control the flow of fuel to the aircraft's engine. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) had released its preliminary report on the crash of the Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft on Saturday. It had said in its report that the aircraft's fuel control switches had closed within seconds of take-off, due to which it had crashed.
